Partners with Heavy Reading to present new global research.

BARCELONA -- Huawei partnered with Heavy Reading (www.heavyreading.com), the research division of Light Reading, to host an exclusive ICT Leaders Roundtable on March 1, 2015 at the Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel in Barcelona, in conjunction with Mobile World Congress.

Designed for ICT leaders from communications service providers, IT companies and digital services companies, the roundtable, packed with over 50 CXOs, senior executives and specialists, discussed the core issues that are changing the business foundations for the communications industry. This includes ICT transformation as it relates to digital operations, internal IT transformation, and network/IT Infrastructure as well as how the transformation changes/impacts CT/IT landscape. In addition, Heavy Reading presented the results of a new worldwide survey of network operator professionals' views on ICT transformation strategies and challenges.

Dr. Liang Hua, Senior Vice President of Huawei & President of Global Technical Services, gave an opening speech on the future of ICT industry. He was joined by consultants from Heavy Reading: Patrick Donegan, Chief Analyst; Caroline Chappell, Principal Analyst, Cloud & NFV; Gabriel Brown, Senior Analyst, Mobile, and Jim Hodges, Senior Analyst, Network Transformation.

Key issues discussed in the roundtable included:

  • Information and communications technology (ICT) transformation, focusing on the business value of ICT transformation to service operators

    • Business and technology strategies that operators are implementing to achieve ICT transformation

    • The key challenges – and potential solutions – to creating and executing on ICT transformation

      Dr. Liang said, "My colleagues and I are very pleased to host this event in which ideas were exchanged with network operator executives, partners, as well as Heavy Reading analysts to discuss key issues related to the communications industry. There was a general consensus from the discussions that operators need to transform their network and IT infrastructure and operations to deliver resource efficiency, agility, and business innovations with ROADS experience to deliver value and business growth."

      Heavy Reading gave an exclusive insight into the pre-event survey results by Chief Analyst Patrick Donegan. Additionally, the key takeaways from the round table will be incorporated into the white paper that will be released during Mobile World Congress."
